I made this pompously-titled mix for a friend of mine that is largely unfamiliar with the Wu. His favorite producer is Dangermouse. This is my attempt to educate him on some real shit, using strictly what I consider golden-era RZA: 1995-1997 masterpieces from Cuban Linx to Forever.
here is my room. d-lo suggested we all post our joints up here and then talk about it. so here ya go. this photo was taken about a year ago. right now there are about 8 crates worth in various states of disarray spread out over the floor, but you get the idea. stencil paint job like what!

I did some more research into him and read some of his ideas. While I respect his attempt to vent his frustration from prejudice he suffers as an Asian American, to let his anger and frustration manifest into his own personal stereotypes and prejudices and then PUBLISH THEM while attempting to both speak for and influence other Asian Americans pisses me off. so I stumbled across this new documentary that is coming out about American truckers. I know a lot of you would probably scoff at the thought of watching more than an hours worth of film based on the lives of truckers, but it actually kind of sounds interesting. we have a lot of stereotypes about truck drivers, so I'm curious to see this film.

ok so my boy Sergio works at the record label OM and is helping establish their hip-hop division. They've signed this group Zion I and from what it looks like, not really sure, but from the video below, it looks like they got this new white guy in the group who is actually kinda dope. It's always good to hear rappers who aren't just black that have skills. I don't know. Being that I'm Chinese and growing up in a small Midwestern college town, one of the only minority cultures I could identify with was hip-hop culture. So although hip-hop culture has very afro-centric roots, it's good to see that it isn't limited to just the black community.
but then I see people like this, who give the hip-hop community every reason to be skeptical of any rapper who isn't black...this is ridiculous
and then there's of course the totally radical VH1 tv show on right now that has white rappers competing with each other. shit is kind of hysterical. And wasup with the females on this show?!! There was actually a hottie that got booted from the show, but HOW COME WHITE RAPPER FEMALES ALWAYS GOTTA BE UGLY AND FAT? I mean I'm a pretty tolerant and non-judgemental dude when it comes to the opposite sex, but this chick is just out of control....

I never considered myself a sushi connoissuer (or claimed to know how to spell connoisseur for that matter) but as an avid fan I used to get pretty upset when east and west coasters would skeptically put down the sushi in my beloved city of Chicago for not being fresh. After extensive research in both expensive and cheap sushi spots from San Diego to Vancouver I can comfortably say there is no place I would rather get sushi than Japonica on Taylor St.

Like who actually has the time to find out that you can actually do this? so i partnered with san francisco sneaker joint Shoebiz on a Valentine's Day mixtape. it was a proper release for the Making Babies mixtape that i had done originally for Ricky's wedding and then to pass digitally amoung friends. it is a CD full of make-out jams to serve as a soundtrack...for love. hehe. anyways, it was available today only at the 2 shoebiz stores on Haight Street in SF. I stopped by after work to see how many they had moved during the course of the day and who i see checking out at the cash register but Dave Muthafuckin Chappelle! yo!!!!!! he stops into the store whenever he is in SF to pick up some kicks and just so happened to be there today with his wife and 2 kids (he already done made some babies). so he picked up a copy of the mix and is planning on putting it to work tonight. snap!!

Milk beer called 'Bilk' to go on sale in Hokkaido

NAKASHIBETSU, Hokkaido -- A brewery here has succeeded in producing a low-malt beer with milk, after the drink was suggested as a product that would help use up surplus milk.
The drink, called "Bilk" will go on sale on Feb. 1. It reportedly has a fruity flavor that its brewers hope will be popular among women.
The idea for the drink was conceived after dairy firms threw out a huge amount of surplus milk in March last year. The son of the manager of a liquor store in Nakashibetsu, whose main industry is dairy farming, suggested the idea of producing the milk beer to local brewery Abashiri Beer.
The 31-year-old factory head of the brewery was against the idea, saying that fermentation would be difficult because of the high starch content in milk, but went through a trial and error process to produce the drink anyway.
Since milk has a low boiling point, the brewery took care to control the temperature during the boiling process so the milk wouldn't boil over. After they put beer yeast and hops into the drink and began the fermentation process, the beverage looked and smelled like tea with milk. However, when fermentation was complete and the drink cooled down, it had the same color as beer.
Since one-third of the drink is milk, the drink has been viewed as a good way to use up milk in the town. The drink got the thumbs-up from 30-year-old resident Kaori Takahashi, who took part in a tasting session.
"It's got a fruity taste, so it will probably go well with sweets as well," she said.
Each 330 ml bottle costs 380 yen. For the time being sales will be restricted to Nakashibetsu, with six liquor stores selling the drink. (Mainichi)

a rant spinnerty getting short-changed at a dj gig:
"i mean, we used to play gigs all the time in college for free. i'm pretty sure we got short changed for all the business we brought Barfly, but we did it. and i dont think we did it for just 50 bucks a night just because we were "down" and loved music, i think it's because we wanted the experience and for us it was more important to connect and influence people. But then again,when you're reliant on the gigs as a form of income it's a completely different story. I think you end up approaching dj-ing in a different way. So when you have been promised a certain amount at the end of the night and get short changed, I feel like it's no longer about how "down" you are or how much you love music, it's about unprofessional behavior and bad business ethics. I don't think by compromising you proved how much you loved music, and perhaps you did get played. But there's nothing you can legally do in those situations unless a contractual agreement was signed. That's why the music world often times creates shady business practices. And I think thats what contributes to why good artists and good people often times get focked from a business standpoint.
But then again......does it matter how much you get paid if all that matters is the music?"
